About Lauren
Lauren N. Leffler is the Managing Partner of Leffler, Bayoumi & Oliver, LLC, where she and her law partner, Gauri Bayoumi, lead a boutique law firm devoted to guiding families and individuals through their most important legal challenges. With her areas of practice focused on family law, trusts and estates, and guardianship matters, Lauren is recognized for her clarity, compassion, and unwavering advocacy, both in and out of the courtroom.
Given the depth of Lauren's experience in both family law and estate planning, she offers clients a truly integrated perspective. She understands that legal issues rarely exist in silos. Decisions made during a divorce, custody matter, or major life transition often have lasting effects on estate plans, financial security, and the well-being of future generations.
Lauren regularly helps clients navigate the complex overlap between divorce settlements and trusts, custody arrangements and guardianship planning, blended family dynamics, business ownership, and long-term asset protection. She is particularly experienced in advising families with additional layers of complexity, including those caring for loved ones with disabilities or aging parents who may require guardianship or lifetime support where careful planning and clear structure are essential.
Known for her thoughtful and steady approach, Lauren prioritizes resolution whenever possible. With training in mediation and other alternative dispute resolution methods, she guides many matters toward efficient, settlement-focused outcomes that protect both relationships and resources. When litigation is necessary, however, she is a skilled and strategic courtroom advocate who does not hesitate to assertively protect her clients' interests.
By combining comprehensive planning, practical judgment, and strong advocacy, Lauren helps clients move through life's most personal legal challenges with clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.
As an established leader in Maryland's legal community, Lauren serves on the Maryland State Bar Association's Family Law Section Council, where she helps shape policy, education, and best practices for family law practitioners across the state. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and continuing legal education programs, regularly sharing practical insights on the intersection of family law, estate planning, and fiduciary matters with fellow attorneys and judicial officers.
Her work has earned consistent recognition from both peers and industry publications. Lauren has been named to the Maryland Super Lawyers list each year from 2017 through 2026, selected to The Daily Record's 2025 Family Law Power List, and recognized by Doyle's Guide as a Leading Family, Divorce & Matrimonial Lawyer in Baltimore for 2026.
Before joining the firm, Lauren worked for several prominent Maryland law firms in the areas of family law and trusts and estates. Her earlier experience also includes roles with The White House, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she developed a strong foundation in navigating complex legal issues. She later joined the firm as an associate under its founder and her mentor, Margaret "Meg" H. Oliver, growing alongside the practice for more than a decade before becoming a partner and ultimately stepping into the role of Managing Partner upon Meg's retirement. Under Meg's wing, Lauren has developed an empathetic yet logical approach to her advocacy of her clients.
When she's not advising clients or leading the firm, Lauren's world revolves around her family. She loves planning trips, creating traditions, and turning everyday moments into lasting memories, whether that's an overseas adventure, a local outing, or a cozy movie night at home.
She has a natural eye for thoughtful details and enjoys creating calm, welcoming spaces, from her office to her home. A proud Howard County native, Lauren is deeply rooted in her community and believes that both life and good lawyering come down to the same thing: showing up for people when it matters most. Time with her family keeps her grounded and fuels the empathy and steadiness she brings to her work each day.
